Franklin Pierce University SSDP
From SSDPedia
Franklin Pierce University SSDP (formerly known as Franklin Pierce College SSDP) is the only student run drug policy group in New Hampshire. Founded by 2006 Outstanding Student Activist recipient Jonathan Perri in 2005. FPU SSDP was given the Outstanding Chapter Award of 2006 and the Campus Change Award in 2007.
The chapter reversed a student government vote against joining the student body to the Coalition for Higher Education Act Reform.
FPU SSDP formed Harm Reduction Center in the middle of the campus and training began in 2007 for peer counseling to be offered.
FPU SSDP has assisted in tabling at the Boston Freedom Rally for the past 2 years.
The chapter has passed 3 resolutions in their Student Government and has written a Medical Amnesty Policy that was adopted to the student code of conduct.
A demonstration was held that made front page news after 4 students were locked out of their dorm for over 30hours because drug use was suspected. This occurred after the towns police chief threatened both administrators and campus safety officers with arrest if they did not report all drug or suspected drug use to the local police. The chapter is still working to change this protocol.
The chapter will be hosting the 2008 Northeast Regional Conference.
